Engineering and design firms are tasked with the conceptual and / or detailed design of complete projects or portions thereof. They have to provide estimates to their clients in the form of tenders for their professional services, and often have to assist the clients with value engineering exercises. They also have to continuously control their cost budget and schedule during the life of any project.

Engineering and design effort estimates require an understanding of the levels and disciplines of engineers involved in the development of the designs and generation of drawings and schematics. Another aspect is the value engineering calculations which have to consider the various design alternatives from both a time and a cost perspective.

Our Experience and Offerings
PTCC has experience in estimating design effort as well as estimating the cost and time implications faced by comparing various design alternatives. We are able to advice our customers as to the best course of action for sourcing of quotes from the market's many vendors and suppliers, inclusive of all freight and import / export duties, levies and taxes that may be applicable.
Based on the combined experience of the Cost Engineering staff employed by PTCC, we could even offer constructability reviews in conjunction with the design teams.
Summary
Our Cost Engineering teams have many years of experience in dealing with design houses and are able to assist customers right from the inception stages of projects. If the engineering and design houses act as EPCM it is even more important that they have reliable and valid cost and time estimates for their projects, as well as reliable project controls during the life of said projects.
